In its first incarnation, Australian PictorMarks was Peck’s New-Look PictorMarks. When Colleen Woolley and Jan Eury purchased the world-wide publishing rights, they spent a year in which the original work was completely revamped. Five sections were combined into chronological order using a simple user-friendly icon system so the type of postmark could be seen at a glance.
There are more than 7000 graphics depicting those postmarks (and cachets!), more than 1100 pages and around 9000 index entries. Whether you decide you want ‘one of everything’ or build a thematic collection or one based on geographic First Day of Use Post Office permanent pictorial postmarks, Australian PictorMarks will become your bible. Perhaps the secret to its success is that its been put together by a collector for collectors, so it’s very ‘user friendly’.
