These postmarks were not specifically advertised in the Stamp Bulletin and were impossible to acquire through AP after the event. Only 500 cancels were done on the Olympic Sports cover at Canberra. Cachet in purple ink. Also available on Olymphilex souvenir cover.
The AP cancel was used for only two hours or so immediately after the official opening on 13 September and there was no official FDC as such. Covers were not placed on sale at either the Mint or POs in Canberra.
A further 100 cancels bearing the green and gold Olymphilex sticker were produced by the Philatelic Council of the ACT.
Subsequently, in Stamp Bulletin No.260, covers were advertised postmarked on the first day (13 September) and last day (5 October) of Olymphilex, and these used the Sydney postmark.
