See below for sample pages

This new edition is 48 pages (plus three additional intro information pages) —  36 of them with full, glorious colour graphics! Now listed (and in most cases illustrated) is:

  • Every cricketing thematic stamp issued by Australia Post
  • All cricketing thematic pre-stamped envelope (PSE) issued by Australia Post
  • Each cricketing thematic souvenir cover (as listed by Almeida) issued by Australia Post
  • Every cricketing thematic postcard issued by Australia Post
  • All cricketing thematic postal numismatic cover (PNC) issued by Australia Post
  • The one and only aerogramme issued by Australia Post to feature that cricketing mecca, the MCG.

Includes our glorious Ashes win of the 2006-07 season with all postmarked items illustrated.

We now illustrate a unique cover from the 1977 Centenary of the Ashes match signed Australian team members on the front, with the English on the back.

Illustrated is a cover signed by 22 of the 42 Australian Cricket captain - truly unique and priceless now that a number of those Captains have gone to that Great Cricket Pitch in the sky. A list of those Captains starting with Dave Gregory in 1876 is shown.

For the first time, included is a postcard and a PSE showing the MCG. How can any book about Australian cricket ignore the MCG? The night lights shining on the MCG make for a stunning photograph.

Did you know that the permanent pictorial postmark for "The Gabba" was the first cricket thematic postmark anywhere in the world? It was! Illustrated on the right hand page below are some covers from the first day of use. More are overleaf (but you'll need the book to see them!).

The Centenary of Test Cricket at the Adelaide Oval in 1984 was a big event with some outstanding philatelic memorabilia.

Some of the other items used for the Centenary of Test Cricket at the Adelaide Oval in 1984, including a rare-ish Arthur Bergen post card.

When "The Don" turned 75, cricket lovers everywhere celebrated with him. Some rare-ish covers are illustrated here.

The Centenary of the Sheffield Shield cricket match between SA and NSW was an eminently reasonable cause for use of a new commemorative postmark. This section has been updated with more Shield history and a table showing each state, their nickname, colours, home grounds, first competition and the number of wins they've had.

The Hilton Plaza PO produced a new permanent pictorial postmark in 2005 featuring Australia's famous "baggy green" cap. Some background of the traditions associated with it are included. Burbridge Road in Adelaide was renamed Sir Donald Bradman Drive and the Hilton Plaza PO is right on the corner of it and Bagot Street. Why on earth wouldn't they have a special postmark?

How many of you noticed the cricket stumps included in the stamp produced for Australian Innovations back in 2004? Huh? And what about the Baggy Green featured in the Sports Treasures issued in 2005? At least you'll know what to look for in future.

One look at the Index shows just how much Edition 2 has been expanded.

Edition 1 of this book was originally used as part of an exhibition at Australia's National PostMaster Gallery in Melbourne. Edition 2 with its inclusion of stamps, postcards and other related cricketing thematics fills a gap in Australian philatelic cricketing literature. We are sure you'll enjoy having it on your library shelf.
